The BITS Cybersecurity Program focuses on strengthening the safety and soundness of financial institutions by sharing best practices and successful strategies for developing secure infrastructures, products and services, while maintaining public and private-sector confidence. Priority focus areas include: emerging payments, enhancing security of top level domains, security awareness and training, cloud computing, regulatory compliance and collaborations with other associations and government agencies.
Cybersecurity Initiatives & Activities
Security Working Group
The primary BITS group focused on cyber security technology and policy issues; Facilitates peer-to-peer and subject matter expert led discussions; Conducts information sharing through formal and informal surveys; Publishes best practices documents. (Typically includes several participants from all BITS member financial institutions)
Security Awareness and Education Working Group
A group dedicated to building and continually strengthening comprehensive security awareness and training programs as part of an effective risk management practice. Focused on employees, customers and third parties.
Cyber-Legislation Working Group
A joint BITS/FSR initiative to monitor legislative action, develop policy positions, and inform advocacy efforts.
A group of senior cloud architects focused on identifying gaps in policy and technology controls and provide recommendations for mitigating cloud computing risk; Work with cloud vendors to improve and structure service offerings for the financial services industry.
Cybersecurity Talent Recruitment and Development
Develop strategies for growing the cyber workforce to meet the needs of the industry. Focused on growing and nurturing internal talent and supporting local and national efforts to produce cyber ready workers equipped to handle the ever changing threat landscape.
